Fix – cPanel Account Restore Failed: Failed to create the account. A database owner with the name “cpaneluser” already exists
Once, our customer was migrated from another cPanel hosting. While restoring his account to our cPanel server, we received an error like cPanel Account Restore Failed.
Error Message : cPanel Account Restore Failed: Failed to create the account. A database owner with the name “cpaneluser” already exists
Solution
- Login into the cPanel server via SSH with root privileges.
- Navigate to directory /var/cpanel/databases.
- Locate the files cpaneluser.json and cpaneluser.json.lock< and move them to another folder.
- Try to restore the cPanel account once again. In several cases, moving the cpaneluser.cache and cpaneluser.yaml files to some other folder also fixed the problem.
This will conclude on how to fix the error cPanel Account Restored Failed.
Note: In this place, cpaneluser is the symbolic cPanel user. While you follow the above steps, you should look for the files with your actual cPanel username.
