How To Disable Anonymous FTP In WHM Server?
What is anonymous FTP?
Anonymous File Transfer Protocol (FTP) enables remote users to use the FTP server without an assigned user ID and password. Anonymous FTP enables unprotected access (no password required) to selected information about a remote system. You should disable anonymous FTP in WHM as allowing anonymous FTP logins is generally considered to weaken the security of the server. You should only enable this feature to make content publicly available for download.
Steps to disable anonymous FTP in WHM server
- Login into the WHM server as the root user.
- Under Service Configuration, select FTP Server Configuration.
- On the new page, scroll down to Allow Anonymous Logins and select No from the drop-down to disable it.
- For Allow Anonymous Uploads, select No from the drop-down to disable it.
- Click on the Save button at the end of the page to save settings.
Thats It! you have disabled anonymous FTP access to your WHM server.
Note: This interface is only available if your hosting provider enables FTP services and anonymous FTP.
